Born in Staffordshire, Paul studied architecture at Liverpool university and has worked as an artist and architect for many years. Paul now lives and works in Derbyshire.

Paul has always been interested in buildings and the urban landscape. He uses a variety of mediums and is absorbed by scenes with strong light and areas of high contrast. Light, shade and value studies are an essential part of Paul's painting process

Paul's love of drawing has led him to develop his portrait work. This fundamentally leans on his drawing skills to create and develop shapes. Paul's portraits and landscapes look to achieve an emotional connection with everyday settings.​​​
